Minus 1 and dry when driving in.

That was not exactly the weekend I was hoping for.. Frankly most of the horses ran below par..It seems to be a common problem with many yards.. Hugely frustrating as they look so well and win best turned out prizes .. but that does not win races..

As my old boss used to say... Time and Patience .. mind you I am not going to finish the rest of his quote..

Good to see Nanette Sellars and her daughter Debra at Sandown .. over 2 years since I last saw them.. Covid to blame..

Away from the races.. David and Jenny Hill who are staying in the barn here at Thorndale for Cheltenham asked Clare and I to join Robert and Jilly Baines for supper on Saturday night at The Old Butchers.. It never disappoints.

Robert and David owned Docklands Express..So a few glasses were raised for old times and good times too....

And then yesterday John and Penny Perriss and I met for lunch at The Chequers Inn before racing at Warwick.. That was also good..and as it turned out, the best part of the day..

The start of a busy week at Thorndale with lots of visitors gearing up for a fun filled week of racing.

This morning we held a Morning on the Gallops breakfast for six racing fans, Jamie Bramald, Ray Dennis, Ryan McDermott, Steven Shaw, Paul Willis and Lewis Heckford all came for a yard tour and cooked breakfast to celebrate the start of a big week at Cheltenham.

Steve Adams and Andrew Stockton came up early to see Steve's KBRS horse Galante de Romay

Norman Carter was here to see his horse Samatian and his KBRS horse Voyburg

Third lot and Andy and Sandy Page were here to see their KBRS horses Blazon and Shinobi.

John and Mandy Battershall were here to see Younevercall

John Knock, Keith Bratt and Terry Crump came to see their KBRS horses Tantoli and Shantou Express.

Luke Harvey called in with a camera to do some filming..

The first Test was a draw.. Root back the runs .. And as for the Rugby.. The French Ref ruined the game after 82 seonds!

We have two runners today. Wandrin Star heads to Taunton while Shantou Express heads to Stratford.. For my thoughts on their chances please click here.

I am not racing as I am heading to Robert Chugg's thanksgiving..memorial......St Mary’s Church, Hanbury, Worcestershire at 12 noon.

There will be a huge turn out for this very popular man..Racing and non racing..
