Plus 9 and dry (at the moment) when driving in

Picks Lad has kept his race at Taunton..The appeal was dismissed..

I watched and listened on Zoom to the BHA panel discuss and dissect the race… David Bass was questioned (interrogated?) and for a moment I thought my stable jockey was heading for the block and off with his head!.. It was like listening to a murder case!!. Frankly at no stage was I confident that we would keep the race, but we did.. and rightly so..

Moving on to Huntingdon..

When you follow a horse because it beat one of yours that you thought was unbeatable (as you know they all are!) you watch their every race after..

Chianti Classico in his first bumper at Ascot went to the races with yard confidence, but we finished second to a German trained horse, who 4 weeks before the trainer had booked the jockey and told him it would not be beaten.. Well the horse that beat CC at Ascot that day is called Esctacas.. I followed him after and gradually his form deteriorated.. he obviously wanted better ground.. well yesterday he reappeared on better ground, having had a wind operation and won Parc d’Amour’s race..

Parc d’Amour actually finished third..

Parc is a beast of a horse who pulls hard and when he stops pulling he goes no faster or slower, but it makes for all watching believe that he is cantering.. Yesterday he cruised into the lead and looked all over the winner, but two flat horses went past him and all three drew 30 lengths clear of the 4th..It was the fastest race of the day

Parc is bred for further, and needs further, but he needs to relax and take his races without pulling.. He thinks he is a fast horse but he is not..I am not being rude by saying that.. He will learn…. Yes it was a frustrating day..

We try again today at Market Rasen.. Sayadam heads there and for my thoughts please click here.
