Plus 17 and dry when driving in.
That was a long, but very successful weekend...
Saturday we hosted over 300 people here for National Racehorse Week.. My god it was hot and at 33 degrees it was too much for some. We added Emma Stanley’s food bar and an ice cream van to help those who came along.. Guess which was more popular?
Most who came had not been to a racing yard before so it was good to see them enjoying talking to the horses and staff alike.
Yesterday as our Owners Open day and our format is different from others. Owners and friends come along in the morning to see their horses and then those who wished to join us for lunch at The Frogmill stay for lunch..
We always have a guest speaker but this years ''celebrity guest'' Marcus Armytage rang yesterday morning to say that he had come down with Covid.. Poor chap..
Thankfully one of my long serving owners was prepared to tell a story about is early days with me.. John Perriss had a list of brilliant stories.. Any a huge thank to him for stepping ion at the last minute.. I am sure he actually enjoyed doing it!
Many of my owners stayed the night at the Frogmill and the party continued well into the night.. I made it home to watch the second set of The Us Open.. Novak Djokovic won a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles title by outlasting Daniil Medvedev in a punishing final.
England were good on Saturday. Wales yesterday also Ireland but Scotland..
Cricket.. England beat New Zealand
Monday morning and some sore heads from last nights staff party in The Royal Oak
Neil and Jo Brook were here third lot to see their KBRS horses General Hubble and Zmiinyi. Norman Carter called in late morning to see his horse Samatian.
Photos from yesterday thanks to Nigel Kirby.
To finish.. A huge thanks to my staff for all their hard work over the weekend and all my owners for coming yesterday and making the day so much fun..
