Plus 4 and dry at Thorndale.

 

I am slightly oblivious to the weather at Thorndale after being incarcerated here in the GR for just over two weeks..

 

Easy day for the horses, although we have five runners. More later.

 

Mikey Elliot and James Cheatham made a second visit to see me. They must love Costa cocktails? David Bass joined them..

 

Cocktails probably don’t suit David but flat white camels milk added to his coffee does. 

 

Good to see DB, who was in cracking form having had a good schooling morning at Thorndale. 

 

DB not to outdone by James Cheatham brought a fine bottle of red wine as a pick me up. Kind David but did you really buy it? Well as turned out he did not..

 

Apparently he was in Lambourn when Ed De Giles turned up with 2 flat horses to work.

 

Ed asked David to help out and ride one..David was not at all keen, complaining that he really did not fancy riding some wayward flat horse (2 year old).. so he asked Ed if he could be paid!!

 

Ed said, 'come on surely not and as a friend could you help out?'

 

David then spied two bottles of wine (one white and one red) in Ed’s car boot so said he would except one in payment. 

 

No fool is David as he realised that he knew nothing about wine being a non believer (drinker?).. But his best mate Nico de Boinville did.. Nico also had the Vimeo app on his phone.

 

Quickly taking pictures of both bottles he forwarded them to Nico for advice.. the reply was ride work for the red.. now you know where my present came from! As David said ..important to have 'posh' friends?

 

Back to today. Fantastic racing at Aintree, although sad to see Bravemansgame is a non runner ...we run Saint Bibiana  there in the mares bumper. Maya saddling there..
