Plus 19 and very humid and dry when driving in.

Another evening of taking photos of horses for the horses in training page. Not ideal as it was bloody hot (32) and I spent most of the session dodging clouds… Anyway a few more done.

We finished in time to miss the thunderstorms and the torrential rain..over 2 inches fell in an hour..

The Goffs Landrover sale was a revelation.. Why was there all that doom and gloom that prices would be half of what they should be..Well trade was brisk and very good .. for the vendors.

Yesterdays financial headlines ''UK falls into recession as GDP tumbles 20.4% in April-June’’ made not a jot of difference to the store sale prices in Ireland yesterday..

I was on the button buying Lot 143 a stunning Walk In The Park 3 year old gelding, out of a Flemensfirth mare with a staggeringly good pedigree..

Peter Kerr asked me to buy a gem for the future and this is what Mags O’Toole and I came up with.. Thrilled.

I was using Mags, as my usual agent Aiden Murphy was not allowed to travel from the U.K.. This lovely horse will be heading over to England in the next couple of days and will go straight to Martin Jones to be broken in..(ridden)

Peter is hugely confident that this horse will as they say 'fly off the shelf' so please just give Peter a call to register your interest.

I added another horse to the shopping bag later in the day.. Lot 225.. A very easy walker by the Derby Winner Sir Percy who I am sure will make a very successful jumps stallion.. He too will be heading to Martin Jones later in the week.

Leigh Pollard made it home from Perth late morning although she did face a shock when she went to put Fubar in the horsebox as the stables were flooded with about a foot of water after torrential rain and thunderstorms..As usual Leigh coped..

Really sad news .. Coral Pritchard-Gordon died a couple of days ago.. Coral was Sir Michael Stoute’s partner for years and was such a wonderful person. Clare was hugely fond of her and whenever we were in Newmarket we would always see her..A truly special person .. she will be hugely missed..

Phil Case was here third lot to see his KBRP horse Hendra House.

Here are four one liners...

An invisible man married an invisible woman. The kids were nothing to look at either.

I didn’t think the chiropractor would improve my posture. But I stand corrected.

I took my new girlfriend out on our first date to the ice rink, and entry was half price. She called me a cheap skate.

Studies show cows produce more milk when the farmer talks to them. It’s a case of in one ear and out the udder.

Todays non virus video nasty..
