Plus 13 and dry when driving in.

What a weekend.

The St Leger threw up a great racing result when Harbour Law won; Idaho the favourite unseated his jockey. Willie Mullins won the Irish version with Wicklow Brave  (same family as our horse Nam Hai) while Joseph O’Brien beat his father Aidan in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. Yes a good weekends racing

Plenty more medals in Rio and Stan Wawrinka won the US open beating Novak Djokovic.

Saturday afternoon Clare and I went to see her old horse Mysortofman (probably named after me?) who is happily retired with Sam Rose. Sam takes him on many ROR classes.

Great to see our 'old mates' having a happy life after racing and we pride ourselves on looking after and finding suitable homes when our horses retire. There is always sadly one that slips through the net but most have long and happy lives in great parts of the country enjoying their retired life.

Passing through Banbury we called in to see Penny Perris in The Horton. Penny is doing well and hopes to be back home on Wednesday.

Our weekend was slightly different as my sister Moo and her husband Pete threw a party at their home near Banbury. A party weekend. We stayed with Johnny and Laura Ruck Keene along with James Mayhew, Cathy T-D and Martin and Kate F-G. Back to my sisters for lunch yesterday; a cracking family fun weekend.

Monday morning and fresh horses. For that Monday morning feeling let the train take the strain.

Henry Morshead has joined us; Henry is son of my mate Sam (his book Racing through Life is selling well).

Henry, who has been working in the States for Michael Dickinson during the summer returned to go to The BRS in Newmarket last week where he passed his Category B; Henry is now a fully fledged amateur jockey.

The roads around here are going to be pretty chaotic for the next two weeks as the local A436 is going to be closed from The Frogmill to The Kilkeney for resurfacing, so if you are coming to see us be warned..

Russell Field sent this one over..Golf Stroke

An elderly golfer comes in after a good round of golf at the new course and heads straight to the bar/restaurant area of the club house.

As he passes through the swinging doors, he spots a sign hanging over the bar that reads:

COLD BEER: £ 3.00
HAMBURGER: £4.00
CHEESEBURGER: £ 4.50
CHICKEN SANDWICH: £5.50
HAND JOB:£150.00

Checking his wallet to be sure he has the necessary funds, the old golfer walks up to the bar.

He beckons to the exceptionally attractive female bartender who is serving drinks to a couple of sun-wrinkled golfers.

She glides down behind the bar to the old golfer.

Yes? she inquires with a wide, knowing smile, May I help you sir?

The old golfer leans over the bar and whispers, I was wondering young lady, are you the one who gives the hand-jobs around here?

She looks into his wrinkled eyes and with a wide smile purrs, Yes sir, I sure am.

The old golfer leans in even closer and into her left ear says softly, Well then, be sure to wash your hands properly, because I want a cheeseburger.
