I have nothing but huge admiration for my team here at Thorndale.. Yesterday the girls rode out the horses while the boys, lead by the manly Mat, cleared the gallop of the snow.. by hand..

8 inches deep is what Ed Cookson said it was, although we were not a 100% what he was using as his gauge.. others actually agreed, including me after moving down the gallop..

The trouble with trying to shift the snow with a front end loader on a tractor is the damage you can so easily do to the surface.. not only don’t you need to lose any as it is mighty expensive stuff, but it needs to remain level in inches the whole way up.. consistently 7 inches deep..

My job was to encourage and keep the supply of coffee coming .. heavily laced with Irish Whiskey.. the remnants of the kind gift left by Daniel O’Reagan who was here a couple of weeks ago to see Lets Go Amigo.. And hot food.. I bought out all the sausage rolls and sandwiches from our local garage..

Anyway job done late last night and the whole gallop was salted.. This morning we had to salt the tracks to it as Mat lost his nerve driving the tractor down the slippery slope of the gallop track..salt and more salt..

We delayed our riding out till 9am.. too much to salt before .

Graham Potts our vet was not here for his Tuesday visit.. tomorrow now.. This weeks movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts were..First Flow down 3 to 158, Rockys Treasure up 4 to 122, Shantou Express down 2 to 131 and Talk Of The Moon down 1 to 83.
