Plus 15 and dry when driving in.

It was fairly busy at Southwell last night. Good to see so many people enjoying a night at the races.

I have to mention, Southwell might be a small track but they are an example to others as to how to look after owners..

It was not such a good night for Yeavering Belle as she unshipped her jockey 4 from home when going very well.. A novicey mistake? Probably blinded coming into the fence when another horse crossed her. She would have gone very close..

Travelling to the races was not the best as the M5 was closed (both ways) and traffic was diverted all over the country. Over 3 and a half hours to get there and 2 to get home..

I did listen to the 3rd ODI from Edgbaston and the game was a cracker.. England won again, beating Pakistan in all three games, and last night was another example of how good our white ball game is. Record breaking.. It watched the highlights when home.. Bob Willis was well remembered last night..

Wednesday's during the winter is the morning when we work our horses. But for obvious reasons there are not many that need to work yet..

Jockey Ciaran Gethings was here for a couple of lots this morning..We jumped Talk Of Fame, Gerard Mentor, Vermillion Rose, Shinobi, Design Icon and Peaked Too Soon.

I ordered Bernard Parkin's book In The Shadow Of Cleeve Hill some months ago and yesterday it arrived.  A beautiful book full of fabulous photos and now it is time to read all about his life. A signed copy.. Thanks Bernard..

A jockey is walking down the road leading a racehorse when he bumps into a friend.

“What are you planning to do with that nag?” the man asks.

“Race it,” replies the jockey, surprised.

“Well, by the look of it,” the man says, “You’ll win!”

To finish.. Happy birthday to Keith Ellis part owner (with Liz) of Thruthelookinglass and Behind The Veil
