Plus 6 and dry when driving in..Another 15 mm of rain here yesterday

That was very wet at Chepstow yesterday.

It was fine weather when we arrived, but just before Chianti Classico arrived in the paddock it started to rain..It poured..Biblical rain to be precise!

Richard Pilkington, who part owns Chianti Classico with Francis Brooke, was there and he stood in the paddock with his old school mate Cornelius Lysaght waiting for CC to arrive.. both getting very wet! ..

Richard was prepared for rain, but Cornelius was seriously regretting that he had no raincoat..Mine was waterproof and the only reason I knew was because the pockets had filled with water and there it remained until I took it off.

Most importantly Chianti Classico who looked well before the race, jumped sensibly on what was his first start over fences under rules and after a couple of slow learning jumps early on he was well in control, so much so that David Bass was confident enough to ask him for huge leaps over the last few fences.

It was a really good and impressive performance for a novice and we were all thrilled.. and wet..

I called in to Trivoli wines last night for a wine tasting which included a few Chianti Classico's..

Saturday morning

David Bass and Ciaran Gethings were in to ride out..

We jumped a few and worked a few too!

Teresa and David Murphy were here for breakfast after purchasing a morning on the gallops. 

David Veysey and his son Joseph were here after winning a gallop morning at the Watershed Auction. Rumour has it that David Veysey was David Bass’s old boxing coach back in the day! 

Gillian Clough in to see her KBRS horse Does He Know.

We were also joined by Georgie and Stu Portlock for breakfast who also came to see their new KBRS horse Zmiinyi.

James Coxon was also here to see his KBRS horse Grand Escaparde

We have no runners over the weekend.. But a very big weekend of sport though..

Rugby World Cup.. New Zealand v Ireland....Wales v Argentina and tomorrow England take on Fiji

There is a huge match in the World Cup Cricket today India v Pakistan..... England play Afghanistan tomorrow.

Talking cricket Alastair Cook retires..

Paddy.... When a horse jumps over defence, defeat go first and then detail..

Happy birthday to Gwen Meacham and today would have been my mother's birthday..A very special lady..
