Plus 3 and drizzling when driving in...

Two winners from three runners is not too bad a day at the office!

We started the day with good old Percy Veering hitting the hat-trick when making all to win at Exeter. What a season he is having and what a transformation..I am delighted for his long suffering owners who ‘persevered’ with him after his two disappointing seasons.

Peter Kerr who runs all my KBR syndicates had a full team of owners for Percy, but frankly many were probably right to say that enough was enough after some lack lustre performances over the last two years.. But time is a great essence with a backward horse and one that I have always believed that one day the penny would drop and he would win a race.. Three on the trot probably not.. huge thanks for Sarah Munro Ashman, Virginia Johnson, Paul Martin and Philip Case for sticking with him and with me..

Ciaran still laughs over the fact that he won on Percy at Warwick and yesterday he was equally delighted… I am sure we will struggle to make it four on the trot, but we will try our best..

Percy's win does show the downside of a 2 year syndicate as we are syndicating 3 year olds who might not be fully ready by 5 to do justice. Time is so important for some of these youngsters.. Percy is 6 rising 7 and probably is just coming to his peak so perhaps there is more to come..

Our other runner at Exeter Broomfield Present was not helped by the fact that many of the fences were taken out for low sun.. Thanks Harry Cobden for making that call even when you did have a ride in the race!.. Joking aside BP struggled to breath on the heavy ground and pulled up.. he will now have the obligatory wind op....

Mat saddled a winner at Leicester.. Phil and Gill Andrews’s cracking season continued when The Edgar Wallace won, albeit rather unconvincingly, but win he did.. Gavin Sheehan has a good record for us this time and he did the business again on TEW.

Phil sadly was unable to make Leicester but he was ably represented by his younger team of supporters..in Joe Andrews, Thomas Hadden, William Collins, Rhys Winterhalder and Ben Lawler

Yes a great day, but then the odd rude email popped in to in-tray.. fools! Pockets..

Thursday morning is our easy day although we have four runners in three races at Taunton.

Mat will head down there to saddle while I head to Cheltenham to see the horses that are going through the sales ring tomorrow night after racing.

We run Tregele, Behind The Veil, Samatian and Lets Go Amigo and for my thoughts please click here.

Overheard..

Muttered over a martini: “I hate golf. The only reason I play is to make it easy for my family to think of something to give me for Christmas.”

To finish.. Happy birthday to Liam Higgins..A great man who worked for me for many years.
