How many times have you heard me say what a difficult job being clerk of the course can be?

 

On Thursday night Aintree clerk of the course Sulekha Varma watered the whole racecourse and the yesterday the heavens opened and the ground went soft.. modern technology really is not as good as we hoped when predicting weather?

 

David Bass who was in this morning just loves Aintree and he was so desperate to have a ride there that he begged his agent Gordy Clarkson to find him a spare.. Gordy did, but at Sedgefield..

 

Bassy hates that racecourse, but probably less so after riding a winner on his spar for Hughie Morrison and Richard Pilkington (part owner of Chianti Classico)

 

Sitting in the GR all day is boring stuff especially when you want to be elsewhere, but at least I was able to watch Aintree. Great racing again, but false starts in both races over the GN fences does not look good.. I hope they don’t today as it looks awfully amateurish.

A MALE GP has been prevented from donating blood to the Scottish NHS after he refused to confirm whether or not he was pregnant. Steffen McAndrew, who works in Prestwick, South Ayrshire, said he had been turned away from a blood donation centre in nearby Ayr after he refused to answer the “bonkers” question.

 

The Nations stops, well it might have done some years ago but move on. This years GN will hopefully be a cracker and these are Mats thought of the first 4 placings Delta Work, Any Second Now, Galvin and Corach Rambler
