14th November 2017

Plus 8 and dry when driving in.

Kempton yesterday was short on runners but not short on good racing.

Laval Noir ran OK to finish 6th and will improve for a handicap mark while The Last Samuri ran an absolute blinder to finish 2nd at 33/1 in the Pertemps qualifying hurdle race.

It was TLS first run over hurdles for about 3 years and the handicapper raised him the best part of 20lbs for the privilege, but this morning he is probably saying it was a good thing as TLS finished 2nd and would have probably won in another 100yards.

We ran TLS to boost his confidence and as a prep race for the Beecher Chase at Aintree in 3 weeks time.. TLS was a very tired horse after his last run at Aintree; 4 miles plus in the heat we had that April day took a great deal out of him and I was keen to see that he had an enjoyable experience yesterday.. and yes he loved it.

My day yesterday started with wonderful news from my daughter Pandora who rang to say that she has become engaged to James Lovett and it finished with a visit to see Bridget Bengough in Hereford Hospital.

Thrilled for Pandora and James.. A weekend in Venice was obviously a hugely romantic hit and James will become a great addition to the Bailey family. I am a very happy person.. great news.

Tuesday morning now.

Ed Bailey, who has ridden a couple of winners recently and Tom Bellamy were in this morning; we jumped Chateau Robin, Knockanrawley, The Drinkymeister, Another Venture, Our Belle Amie and Johnny Ocean.

Second lot Darren Smith was here to see his KBRP horses Vinndication and Dusty Pearl

We had a visit as usual from our vet and this weeks movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts were..Ben Arthur down 3 to 97, Billy Elliott down 4 to 92, Charbel down 2 to 147, Little Chunk up 1 to 119, while Station Master enters at 130 and El Presente at 131..

We have three runners today. At Worcester we run Blazon while at Lingfield we run Lake Field and Carqalin and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.

Retired Doctor John Disney sent this one over..

Interesting Year 2005
1. Prince Charles got married.
2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe .
3. Australia lost the Ashes.
4. The Pope died.

Lesson to be learned:
If Charles gets married again, someone should warn the Pope.

To finish.. Sorry to see that Michael Banks has died. A great man who loved his racing and Huntingdon.
