Plus 2 and dry when driving in.

David Bass described the ground at Kempton on Saturday as the worst ground he had ever ridden on at the London track..

Shantou Express who prefers better ground (he handles soft) pulled up, as did 16 of the 20 runners. Yes... only 4 finished in one of the seasons most competitive handicaps full of seasoned hurdle campaigners, that alone gives you some idea how bad the ground was..SE will now have a break until the spring.

The Edgar Wallace finished 4th and again the ground caught him out, but he ran well..

Graham Potts called by for a coffee and a chat yesterday morning..

Graham was in last week to flu vac many of the horses in the yard..

We now have to flu vac our horses every 6 months which makes timing difficult for those running… Every horses flu vac has to be registered with the Weatherbys and signed off by the vet that administered it..It is easy to get wrong, especially if the said vet does not look at his emails!! Timing is everything!!

Pleased to say the new power harrow did its job beautifully yesterday..

Good to talk to son Harry in Sydney.. Facetime a wonderful invention.. Harry is heading to Melbourne this coming weekend to watch the tennis. Australian Open

No runners on a Sunday meant lunch with old friends.. Anthony and Jackie Colburn hosted.. Fellow guests included Scilla Phillips, whose son Nick is Clerk of the Course at Cocklebarrow, Mark Kershaw, Preston and Sara Rabl... Some old stories passed around the table..

The mention of Cocklebarrow reminds me that this coming Sunday their big meeting takes place..

Cocklebarrow Races is a huge must if you are in the area. An unbelievably well run family day out..always fun and very good point to point racing to boot..

They have probably the countries biggest heated tent to make sure that whatever the weather throws at you the day will be fun.. Music after racing too for those diehards..

Monday morning brings in David Bass who jumped a few.

Mark and Melinda Laws and Peter and Fiona Woodhall were here to see their horses Equus Dreamer, Grave La Klass and their KBRS horse Does He Know.

We have one runner today at Hereford.. Pay The Pilot heads there and for my thoughts please click here.

If you like a good debate then I suggest you take time to listen to this..

Happy birthday to Norman Williamson....
