Plus 7 and dry when driving in.

The Tattersalls Ireland sales yesterday showed again that there is no let up on horse prices, another huge upward return from  last year. Having said that last year was their first for this sale so it was bound to be more popular.

Prices were strong enough and hopefully I have found value as Aiden Murphy and I bought two horses. Lot 18 a stunning Schiaparelli gelding and Lot 22 another stunner, a Valirann gelding. Both are 3 year olds and both unbroken.

I love Schiaparelli while as yet the Irish don’t.. We have a couple very good ones here in the shape of Prince Llywelyn and his full brother Lord Apparelli. Hence my liking.. This chaps goes like a goodun..

Valirann is a new stallion whose first crop are 3 year olds  so who knows he could be very good value.. Again a lovely horse and both will arrive with Martin Jones this morning and will be broken in before having a summer out..

Both horses are 'For Sale' so if you would like any further info, please give me or Peter Kerr a ring on 07901763643

It was a warm day in Ireland and again a big thank you to Irish Thoroughbred Marketing who once again picked us up from the airport and dropped us back last night.. Thanks to Charles O’Brien and his team.. So helpful and hugely efficient.

Southwell last night produced a pleasing run from Masteen. I was keen to give Ben Love his first ride over hurdles and he did nothing wrong to finish second ..While at Ffos Las The Milan Girl was beaten by her penalty and probably two nice horses. She finished third.

Big news in racing.. Gigginstown cutting back .. Now this could make a difference on horse prices..

Sad to read that David Arbuthnot is stopping training..A thoroughly nice guy and a good mate..

David Bass and Johnny Burke were into ride out.. Not many left to do so..

David Shuttle  was here second lot while Gillian Clough was here for a first visit third lot.

John and Laura Garrett called in to see their KBRP horses Red River, Pond Road, Commodore Barry, Adjourned, Lord Apparelli and their Racing For Maggies horse Another Venture

A couple who work at the circus go to an adoption agency. Social workers there raise doubts about their suitability.

John Disney sent this one over

The couple produce photos of their 50 foot motorhome, which is equipped with a beautiful nursery.

The social workers are then doubtful about the education that the child would receive.

"We've arranged for a full-time tutor who will teach the child all the usual subjects along with French, Mandarin and computer skills"

Then there are doubts about raising a child in a circus environment. "Our nanny is an expert in paediatric welfare and diet."

The social workers are finally satisfied.

They ask, "What age child are you hoping to adopt?"

"It doesn't really matter, as long as he fits in the cannon !!!

Sad to report that Moise Barton has died. A special lady
