Minus 2 and dry when driving in.. sleet on the way?
Wincanton is one of the coldest racecourses in the UK… Yesterday it could have been warmer..
It looks like the handicapper has caught up with Wandrin Star who finished 5th; he will have a break now until the spring.
The bumper horse Sadlermor ran rather green, as many of mine do first time.. he ran well to finish a most encouraging third in what might be a very good bumper.. we will not know that for a while.. but I would be surprised if Sadlermor does not add to our bumper tally in the spring.
The ground yesterday was horrid.. tacky and must have been watered.. yes this PC world we live in makes watering in January something new.. Not sure I agree as it makes for false ground.. why can't we have natural ground? Gone are the days when fast ground horse win races on their preferred ground..
Friday morning and I am away today.. with Patrick Bailey (no relation!) walking around his farm.
Mary Dulverton was here second lot, having delivered her grandchildren to school, to see her horses Newtide and Talk Of Fame.
We had a vet in the yard late morning as usual, but not Graham Potts who is burning his head in 40 degrees Down Under..
We have two runners today. Full Tilt at Chepstow this afternoon and Sunblazer at sunny Kempton this evening.. yes all weather racing.. For my thoughts on their chances please click here.
