Minus 5 and dry when driving in.

Tom Bellamy was in this morning

Yes a very cold start but we worked Boy In A Bentley and Kalanisi Glen which I missed as I was on my way to London.

Today is when the BHA handicapper Phil Smith announces the Crabbie’s Grand National Weights in London. Our intended runner is The Last Samuri.

Always an interesting day and certainly a fun lunch and always a different venue.. This year Crabbies hosted the great lunch at The Sky Garden..

It is a day when trainers and a few owners sing for their lunch...The old saying of there is never a free lunch/dinner is true today. We don’t mind as we are all up for it as they say. We appreciate the support Crabbies give and we are all very prepared to help with the PR machine..

Trainers give interviews before lunch to Racing UK, ATR, Channel 4, Radio Five live and many other radio stations about their thoughts on their horses weights and the prospects of them running/ winning..

Last years winning trainer Oliver Sherwood and his horse Many Clouds feature heavily and then any interviews after lunch are always more interesting and revealing!!

Talking interviews.. Steve Dennis was here yesterday to interview me for this Fridays Racing Post..

I read this morning Racing Post and on page 3 it says what’s coming up for the rest of the week in the paper.. 'Kim Bailey.. The resurgent trainer talks to Steve Dennis'.. How I hate that word resurgent.. it is so wrong and we were there 7 years ago..Something different please and lets not hark on the past. Yesterdays news? I used to be called a Young trainer!!

Back to today and what is happening in the yard.

The Graham Potts our vet was in for his weekly visit.

Mollys A Diva left here and headed to Batsford Stud where she will meet her owner John Perriss’s other mare Even Flo and her Malinas filly foal before heading to meet her future intended Telescope.

This weeks movers and shakers in the handicap charts are.. Charbel up 10 to 147, Didntitellya down 5 to 112, Gaelic Myth down 5 to 109, Sunblazer up 6 to 94, Trojan Star down 1 to 110 and Younevercall enters at 126.

We have no runners today..

Harriet Smyly sent this over.

A gentleman 89 years of age was stopped by the police around 2 a.m. and was asked where he was going at that time of night .

Ron replied, "I'm on my way to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body, as well as smoking and staying out late."

The officer asked, "Really? Who's giving that lecture at this time of night?"

Ron replied, "That would be my wife."
