Plus 4 and dry when driving in.

David Bass returned on a winning note when steering Royal Supremo to a comfortable win over hurdles at Uttoxeter on Saturday night. Good to have him back.. well that was my first thought..

I was impressed with RS even if the Racing Post was not..This fine looking horse has had three quick runs..

RS finished second on his first start in a bumper at Warwick (should have won..my fault) he then won his bumper at Sedgefield and now he has won his first hurdle race.. you will hear more of him when he returns after his suummer break which starts this week.

Aiden Murphy and I bought him at The Cheltenham Sales in December off Nick Stokes for Peter and Karin Swann.. The Cool Silk Partnership...

Saturday did not go all according to plan and I was heading to Bangor when Leigh Pollard my travelling head girl rang to say that she thought the ground was fast enough at Bangor.. Such A Legend became a non runner.

Leigh then drove SAL and Braw Angus to Uttoxter where Braw Angus was meant to start his racing life off in the bumper but again the ground was too fast for him, so he too became a non runner.. In between the lorry picked up a puncture..

Magic Money on the other hand did run and ran well to finish 6th .. Magic Money was Henry Kimbell’s last runner for the GSTTKPA Charity Partnership as their other horse King Simba heads to Goffs Doncaster Sales on Thursday to end the partnership.

I ended the week at Market Rasen yesterday.

My Racing week has been Towcester, Wincanton and Worcester so hitting the delights of Market Rasen yesterday was nearly a high point..

You arrive on the racecourse and you are instantly made welcome.

I don't know what it is about MR, yes it is a long way to go but the racecourse appreciate your attendance and certainly do so for the staff as they give them all free food.. Ascot do that, but I am not sure how many others do.. a good touch.

Bud Booth the Chairman has the right policy.. make your racegoers welcome and they will come back.. All my owners who have visited MR enjoy their trip, although I suppose it does help when on so many occasions, like yesterday, Bud asks my owners in for lunch in the Directors box.. Yes we are spoilt at Market Rasen and I am sure that feeling will carry on when Bud retires in December and Tommy Cooper takes over..

What was not so spoiling was to be mugged on the line.. Net Work Rouge jumped for fun all the way round and the only fence he put down at was the last.. that cost him the race…my language was blue.. hate being second!!

Norman Carter was here second lot this morning to see his horses Sunblazer and Rhianna.. He also saw his KBRP horses Milord, Taras Rainbow and Silver Eagle

Third lot Rob Withecombe and Ben Thompson called in to see me.. Good to see Rob again and also interesting to meet Ben who's become a racing nut as a result of going to school with Lizzie Kelly..

We have no runners today..

A busy week ahead with Goffs Sales at Doncaster tomorow, Wednesday and Thursday and racing most evenings..

Cascaye, Jupiters Gift and My Cousin Rachel went on holidays..

'Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl.'

The priest asks, 'Is that you, little Joey Pagano?'

'Yes, Father, it is.

' 'And who was the girl you were with?'

'I can't tell you, Father, I don't want to ruin her reputation.'

"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now.

Was it Tina Minetti?" 'I cannot say.'

'Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?' 'I'll never tell.'

'Was it Nina Capelli?' 'I'm sorry, but I cannot name her.'

'Was it Cathy Piriano?' 'My lips are sealed Father.'

'Well then, was it Rosa DiAngelo?' 'Please, Father, I cannot tell you.'

The priest sighs in frustration. 'You're very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself.

Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, 'What'd you get?'

'Four month's vacation and five excellent Leads.
