Plus 15 and dry when driving in...

Hard to believe my rain gauge.. 3 and half inches of rain since Saturday morning..

I was up early yesterday to drive the trailer to Market Rasen. Midday was their first race which meant that I was there a couple of hours before.

Our three runners ran well without winning..

Rhosneigr finish 3rd and probably ran to form over further than last time.

Diamond Gait was back over hurdles in what was an unbelievably competitive race.. she again ran well and finish 5th beaten about 7 lengths.

El Presente was sent off favourite in another competitive race and again ran well to finish 3rd.. we had obviously hoped for closer, but time will tell that was a good run; it was a much quicker race time than when he won there last time and he was 9lbs higher..

Disappointing not to come home with a winner but all ran well.

There has been plenty of comment here about racecourses and how they look after owners. Yesterday I went as a guest of DG’s owner Norman Carter, so I was able to gain first hand their owner experience.

Firstly those on the course were slightly confused that I arrived with a trailer and did not want to be in the trainers area.. that caught them out as it meant that I had to unbox outside the cordoned off part of the horsebox park so as not to mix.. Leigh Pollard my traveling head girl took my horse, and I then moved car and trailer to the owners car parking area.

I had already bumped into Jeremy and Serena Bradbeer and it was their son Charlie who was in charge of temperature taking.. Yes keep it is the family as Jeremy was not stewarding yesterday, but on duty driving the Doctors around..

Norman and I met up and were shown into the owners area by incredibly helpful staff and then the racecourse Chairman Tommy Cooper was on hand to make sure we were all well looked after.

Good viewing but you could not go round to the unsaddling area and it was difficult talk to your trainer or jockey post race..

Lunch was excellent..Small but good choice of Fish and chips or pizza.. We both took on the fish and even Norman was impressed enough to say that his fish was as good as he would have found in his favourite eatery Russells in Broadway..

Although there were not many owners there it was a better experience than I had expected...

I can also say that my staff said the same as they were given free hot food and well looked after..

So the standard has been set for other Jockey Club racecourses.. Julian Taylor, who is Chairman of Huntingdon racecourse was there to admire..pressure Julian?

My video news went out last night..

It was good to see my two new horses on Saturday at Martin Jones's..

Peter Kerr, who is syndicating the Walk In The Park gelding, is now away for the week on holiday in Devon.. You can always tell when Peter is away as it always rains! Anyway Peter is doing well as I believe he has only a couple of 10% shares left….

My other horse by Sir Percy gelding had a big boost yesterday as the Market Rasen bumper winner carried a penalty in what looked a decent bumper. Sir Percy is going to make a cracking jump stallion..

We have three runners today at Uttoxeter.. Cresswell Legend, Owbeg and Thibault and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.
