Minus 2 and dry when driving.. It is slowly becoming warmer although it was still minus 8 during evening stables last night.
I believe it is going to remain cold today and then tomorrow we could wake to about a foot of snow, which is guaranteed to send us all in foul moods for the day.. BUT it is going to become positively barmy on Sunday night and into Monday with huge temperature hikes.. We will then be waterlogged!!
We have been lucky, thanks to all my staff, that we have had a gallop to use all week.. We have only been cantering, but we have not done any fast work on it at all..We have fresh horses who hopefully are one piece of work away from running .. Add to that we now we have two extra meetings.. Hereford on Wednesday and Ffos Las on Thursday.. they have obviously sorted their water problem.
Dear Shinobi was sold yesterday on the Thorougbid online auction to Agent Ed Bailey for Harry Derham to race next summer..He should have made more but it takes two to make an auction! Anyway good luck to them.. he is a lovely horse and at least Ed made the effort to come over and see him..
Chris Wall the Newmarket trainer was due to have his last runner last night at Chelmsford.. A good trainer and a gentleman.. Worth reading..
Saturday morning.. David Bass and Ciaran Getting were here to ride out.
Paul and Elizabeth Kellar were here to see Elizabeth’s two horses Big Suze and Faerie Cutlass.
John Benson was also here to see his KBRS Parc d’Amour and Phanton Getaway.
We have no runners this weekend as we all know.. roll on some fine weather and some racing.

An elderly couple, Margaret and Bert, moved to Texas.
Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so, seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.
Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife, "Notice anything different about me?"
Margaret looked him over.. "Nope.
Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.
Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time, "Notice anything different NOW?"
Margaret looked up and exclaimed, "Bert, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow!"
Furious, Bert yelled, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN, MARGARET?"
"Nope", she replied.
"IT'S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!!!"
Without changing her expression, Margaret replied, "Should’a bought a hat, Bert. Should’a bought a hat!
Have a great weekend and I look forward to posting photos of green grass on Monday?
