The horses were ridden out early this morning as they will be for the next few days while this forecasted heatwave hits the country. I remember 1976..advice then was drink water and keep cool..
Six of John and Penny Perriss's horses returned this morning..
Warm weekend to say the least and on that note I have huge respect for all those riders who took to their bikes and rode the local roads around here for 24 hours..
I witnessed the hardship when passing, in my air conditioned car, some struggling to bike up the steep hill out of Charlton Kings.
Racing Welfare hopefully has benefited hugely from the effort those teams of cyclists from the racing world..
What a weekend for English Rugby and Irish Rugby..Two huge wins in the Southern Hemisphere..
The Open was exhausting to watch .. Poor Rory McIlroy just could not get his ball to drop down in the holes.. so close but outplayed by an Aussie..Cameron Smith..It was a brilliant 150 year celebration of the sport.

Really sad to read that Caroline Bailey has decided to stop training..
Caroline is and was a brilliant trainer who made racing fun. She was very successful with a small string of horses. We will miss her happy face at the races.. But at least it will stop those people ringing here and asking for Caroline!?

Yes Staff.. Our new Yardman/tractor driver who was supposed to start work this morning sent a text to Mat yesterday to say that he was not coming having spoken to Mat 2 days ago to confirm he was starting today!..
So you guessed it we are recruiting.. if you fancy a yardman's job which includes driving a tractor, please ring my office.. or email.

Todays heat is not going to good news for Archie who is playing cricket all week in Loughborough, Archie has been selected to the super 4s . A huge week for him.. proud parents.
Clare and I will be there to support and tonight we are staying with Shan Cook.. Nick should be there to serve the first drink before he heads down to Cheltenham to umpire at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival..
Being away for a few days.. David Bass is doing the blog tomorrow and Mat might on Thursday..
