Minus 3 and dry when driving in.
Thank the Lord .. A winner.. 5 seconds this week so far is quite enough and thankfully Cresswell Legend did the business at Ludlow yesterday.
Good old Cresswell, at last he is showing what I always said he would.. Languishing under 'my name' (This Horse Is For Sale Partnership) last season and having won a bumper I saw dollar signs but that was not to be .. Virginia Johnson believed in me and was prepared to buy into him and now she has been well rewarded with two runs and two wins. Great for Virginia who just loves her racing, and now her husband David is starting to enjoy it too.. winners help don’t they..
By The Boardwalk found the ground soft enough for him not to pick up when needed and finished 4th.
Good to see David Shuttle at Ludlow.. David doesn’t own an Aston Martin but he enjoys their adverts..
Our journey home started late as Richard Sheppard and John Webber (Robin The Raven) were at Ludlow having an away day; John and Penny Perriss and I joined them for a drink after the last.. last… yes we were the last to leave the course.. just before the cleaners arrived!
Cheltenham weekend is always busy
Jonathan and Ann Charles were here for a morning on the gallops followed by breakfast as booked through CD Tours while Ian Robinson was here with 3 of his Imperial Racing Team to see their horse Imperial Aura perform up the gallops.
Nanette Sellars was here third lot to see her horses Mr Macho and Diva Reconce and her KBRP horses Our Belle Amie and Chateau Robin.
After breakfast it was to Cheltenham early to see the horses that sell tonight. Tattersalls have had a busy week on their National Hunt side as the foal sale in Ireland have again broken all records. Huge prices for foals that will be reselling as three year olds.. Blimey they will be hoping the market stays strong, they will need it to; they will need to double their money to make ends meet.. expensive thoughts!
Anyway Aiden Murphy will be looking to try and buy tonight.. we shall see.
Cheltenham and we have one runner. Dueling Banjos and crack Irish amateur Jamie Codd .. For my thoughts on their chances please click here.
This time next week we will be in Ashes mood.. Australia picked their team yesterday and an interesting one too.. A wicket keeper who has returned after years in the wilderness and a batsman as old as me… yes interesting and exciting.. cant wait.. long nights ahead I fear.
My first Christmas card arrived and as usual ity was from Bob 'the cat' Bevan
