Plus 4 and dry when driving in.

A mixed day at the office but at least a winner.

Net Work Rouge really was at his best yesterday to beat Sheford. NWR was 12lbs wrong at the weights so winning by half a length will be interesting to see what the handicapper does next Tuesday when he reassess his handicap mark.

I like Huntingdon but yesterday their ground description was wrong .. there was not much good around and it would have been so much easier if they had changed it by putting the word  firm in their somewhere. Ringing an owner and saying his horse hated the ground as it was too firm does not do well when he returns by saying but it was good and the racecourse has not changed their position..

Un Ace again disappointed and we will now have to see to his future while Billy Elliott ran a far better race to finish 5th.. Last time he was tailed off in his last bumper.

At Chepstow both the bumper horses You’re A Lady and Monrocco ran rather like Billy Elliott did first time.. Both will improve hugely for the experience but having said that I did expect them to run better.

Red Spinner ran a blinder and was beaten by a well handicapped horse in Ink Master.. they were 20 lengths clear of the third. Red Spinner had a nasty cut on one of his legs which required stitching..

A quick word about Liz Wills who had Net Work Rouge home over the winter.. She worked hard on her horse to try and improve his way of going and yesterday showed that her work was well worth while and was rewarded by his win.. Co Owner David Reid Scott was also delighted.

Tuesday morning..Tom Bellamy was in to ride out two lots..

Philip and Sandra Arkwright called in for breakfast and to see their horses third lot.. Diva Reconce, Texas Forever and the KBRP horses Chateau Robin and Our Belle Amie and the Racing For Maggies two horse Another Venture and Biscuit.

Our vet Graham Potts was in this morning as usual

This weeks movers and shakers in the BHA weekly handicapping charts are… Ascotdeux Nellerie down 4 to 117 and Rocky's Treasure up 9 to 134

So the news finally broke over the weekend.. the racing worlds worst kept secret.....

TNDGB has bought a new nest in Robins Farm.. The Racing Post who he seems to spend time fighting with found a particularly interesting picture of the old boy. TUMCB must be worried as her husband looked every bit the mad professor.. . The good news is that Robins Farm is only a stones throw from Hyde Park Corner which will, as he says, suit his owners and it will make those daily journeys to London easier.. no more hold ups on the M4 at 3 am..

We have one runner today at Kempton. Gallery Exhibition runs in the 4.15.. ....For my thoughts on his chances please click here.
