19th March 2016

Plus 4 and dry when driving in.

What a week.. the best ever Cheltenham festival? I think so.

The new grandstand worked brilliantly and accommodated far many more people who were able to admire the paddock and the winners return.. something jumping racing fans do well.

The racing was brilliant.. some wonderful finishes and great new champions in the Gold Cup and all the other major races.

The owners experience was exceptional as like last year Cheltenham realised that owners do matter and they need looking after. The down side was the death of seven horses. Sorry for all connections.

The parking and traffic seemed to work far better, well certainly from our side of town, when I never queued once either on the way in or out.

Victoria Pendleton was magnificent. A great ride and a great story. I just hope somebody in the heights of the BHA grab her, pay her, and make her National Hunt Racing Ambassador as she has done more good for our sport than anybody has done for years..She loves it and it shows.. her enthusiasm should be bottled and used..

Finally well done to Ian Renton, Simon Claisse and the Cheltenham team.. a spectacular 4 days.

Our week was hardly disappointing although we failed to make the winners enclosure at Cheltenham. Red Spinner ran a blinder to finish 5th yesterday and like all our horses he ran to his form and looked magnificent in the paddock before his race… David Bass rode all very well and David looks a far better jockey now than at the beginning of the season..David is riding with confidence and that shows.

Well that another year done.. Now we start all over again trying to find that winner for next years Festival.. that's dream is what drives the sport..

Thorndale and my Irish staff made the Irish TV Network RTE you can click here to watch.. our bit comes in after about 14 minutes..

David Bass and Richie McLernon were in here this morning for a couple of lots.

No owners here today, although there was talk of a late visit from one of the GSTTKPA partnership to see their winner Magic Money and King Simba..

We have runners today at Uttoxeter and Kempton and tomorrow at Ffos Las.. I am heading to Uttoxeter today and as for FL tomorrow?

For my thoughts on all our weekend runners please click here.

Two old men decide to have a night on the town.

After a few drinks, they end up at the local brothel.

The madam takes one look at the two old geezers and whispers to her manager: 'Go up to the first two bedrooms and put an inflated doll in each bed. These two are so old and drunk, I'm not wasting two of my girls onthem. They won't know the difference.'

The manager does as he is told and the two old men go upstairs and take care of their business.

As they are walking home the first man says, 'You know, I think my girl was dead!'

'Dead?' says his friend, 'Why do you say that?' 'Well, she never moved or made a sound all the time I was loving her.'

His friend says, 'Could be worse I think mine was a witch.' 'A witch ??. .why the hell would you say that?'

'Well, I was making love to her, kissing her on the neck, and I gave her a little bite, then she farted and flew out the window..... took my bloody teeth with her!'

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday..

To finish Happy Birthday to Simon Sherwood.. Simon is away and missed his son Jack's first Cheltenham winner.. Well done Jack.
