Plus 10 and raining when driving in.

That was a very wet and windy night.

Ludlow was rammed yesterday. It was their big Christmas meeting and understandably it was a very popular days racing.. even their local trainer Henry Daly complained that he had to queue to get in..

Subway Surf ran well and found one too good for her. Cresswell Legend was not happy on the soft ground and was a shade disappointing while Lord Apparelli ran another good race in the bumper and again was beaten by a better horse.. two seconds.. never my favourite place.

We had a mixup in Cresswell Legends race .. Tom George’s horse and CL carried the wrong number cloths.. Not sure how but we were given them and without checking we saddled our horses.. Inquiry followed but no fines..or ticking off.

Down at Newbury where there was an announcement over the tannoy.. Come to the Many Clouds bar to meet local hero Oliver Sherwood.. He was handing out free mulled wine!

Hes No Trouble was running well and looked like he was about to take the lead three from home when Fontsanta, the horse he was following fell and we landed almost on top of him and stopped Hes No Trouble in his tracks.. he was never going to get going again after that.

Sadly Fontsansta fall was fatal..Thoughts for his owner Tim Syder and trainer Emma Lavelle.

It has not been the best 24 hours in the Bailey household as Clare looks like being in her neck brace for another 3 months after seeing the specialist on Wednesday and yesterday morning the decision was taken to put our favourite dog Bear to sleep.

Dear Bear has been an important member of the Bailey family for just over 12 years.

Archie has grown up with Bear and the two were the closest of companions..When we could not find Bear we knew Bear would be with him and visa versa..

Bear featured regularly on my gallop videos.. yes you could hear me yelling his name out as she chased the horses up the gallop from the other side of the fence.. He was the kindest and most loveable dog.. Don’t we all love our dogs..

A big thank you to vet and friend Bella Clarkson.. Archie, Clare and Dougie were all with Bear ..

RIP old friend.

Back to this morning..

Mark and Marion Hudson was here third lot to see his horse Espoir De Romay and Younevercall.

We have just the one runner today at Hereford. Hollymount Holly runs there in the lucky last.. For my thoughts please click here.
