20th April 2016

Plus 2 and dry when driving in.

Down to earth with a bump. Kempton was not a good one yesterday.

Abbreviate never settled and never jumped. Both he does well at home but on the course the brain overtakes.. So much ability wasted. Back to the drawing board; ear plugs and a fence just might make the difference.. he needs to respect what he is jumping and a fence might just do that.

Mor Brook has a problem and I believe his feet are something to do with it.. we shall see. Again Kempton were good at looking after owners..

David Bass was in this morning. We worked and jumped a few.. To see a video of the horses working click here.

We jumped Darna, Patsys Castle, Faerie Reel, Charbel, Gallery Exhibition, Sainte Ladylime, Boy In A Bentley, Monkhouse, Sugar Loaf Sholto, Ascotdeux Nellerie, Didntitellya and Champagne To Go. To watch the video click here.

Dinah Nicholson was here yesterday afternoon taking photos of Charbel and The Last Samuri for next seasons addition of the Timeform's Chasers and Hurdlers 2015/2016; Emily Gray was also on her list but she is in Ireland

Twelve Roses has been retired; sadly TR re injured his tendon when he won at Ascot and although he will be fine for another life .. i.e. ROR or dressage he will not stand the rigours of racing again.

If you are looking to rehome a lovely horse.. Twelve Roses is looking for somewhere special and someone special to look after him for the rest of his life.. A stunning and hugely talented horse who will be much missed here.

The ROA and BHA have just launched the National Racehorse Owners survey and Charlie Liverton has asked me if I would mention it on my website blog and encourage owners, both lapsed and current, to spend a few minutes on it. Charlie said that it was ‘a bit cheeky I know, but your following is great and the more feedback we can get the better it is for us all.’

The more feedback the better for us all – why people love being involved, and what people didn’t like which resulted in them no longer being an owner.

The survey will anonymously canvas the views of racehorse owners past and present and is part of the industry’s "Strategy For Growth". The survey will help us better understand the motives and thoughts of owners and the results will be shared industrywide in order to help devise strategies to better recruit and retain racehorse owners and improve the ownership experience.  Click here for the link… I have filled in one and left plenty of comments..

We have no runners today.. Perth starts today and I am not there..Wilie Mullins is..one of my favourite meetings of the year looks like being missed.

In memory of the Great British Penny..

Just in time to consider before the referendum.

The British Penny - European Union Directive No. 456179.

In order to bring about further integration with the single European currency, the Euro, all citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland must be made aware that the phrase "Spending a Penny" is not to be used after 30 April 2016.

From this date onwards, the correct term will be: "Euronating".

It is hoped that this will be a great-relief to everyone.
