Plus 2 and dry when driving in.

Yesterday turned out to be a most interesting day.

Martyn and Elaine Booth called in mid morning to see their new horse Mr Brinkley; MB is in isolation just up the road up with Jason Maguire near Birdlip.. Great to have the Martyn and Elaine back in the fold and hopefully they should have some fun with this fine big chasing sort who has won an Irish point

Talking in the fold or out of the blue... Jan and Inger Steinmann suddenly walked through my office door late morning

It has been many years since I last saw the Steinmann’s and it was such a welcome surprise to see them again.

Jan and Inger are staying near Corse Lawn for about 6 weeks while over on holiday from their home country Sweden. I am sure we will be seeing much more of them over the coming weeks.

I then joined my sister Moo and her husband Pete Mordaunt at Russell’s in Broadway for lunch.. we were taking Gill Sidgwick out for lunch.. Some of you (the older ones) might recall a couple of horses called Blue Rondo and Shellfire who raced in the 60/70s owned by Gill’s late husband Chris and trained by my father. The conversation during lunch was certainly down memory lane..and talk of holidays with Fred Winter and others.

Yes a good lunch and fun..If you go to Russells you might ask your host Andrew Riley about snake skinned Cowboy boots that arrived in the post.. not his I might add..…

Yes that was yesterday..

Our Belle Amie, Viaduct Jack, Laval Noir and Widow On The Run all had an away day and worked this morning.

No vet in this morning as Graham Potts is coming tomorrow, and I don't suppose the handicapper has had the chance to reassess any of my horses as we have had no runners for a week.

This one was sent over by Anna Hunt..

'Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl.'

The priest asks, 'Is that you, little Joey Pagano?'

'Yes, Father, it is.'

'And who was the girl you were with?'

'I can't tell you, Father, I don't want to ruin her reputation.'

"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?"

'I cannot say.'

'Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?'

'I'll never tell.'

'Was it Nina Capelli?'

'I'm sorry, but I cannot name her.'

'Was it Cathy Piriano?'

'My lips are sealed Father.'

'Well then, was it Rosa DiAngelo?'

'Please, Father, I cannot tell you.'

The priest sighs in frustration. 'You're very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself.'

Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, 'What'd you get?'

'Four month's vacation and five excellent Leads.'

To finish, Happy Birhday to Jeremy Ker
