Plus 5 and drizzling when driving in.

Mats feelings on driving to Wincanton mirror mine. It is about the worst journey to any racecourse in the country.

His day was not helped by the fact that The Bull Mccabe did not perform as we had hoped .. He landed awkwardly at the first and from then on he was never happy.. Such a good jumper at home too.. something wrong.

Busy weekend for Kim Bailey Racing as Ascot’s two day meeting is all about Ownership and Partnerships..

We have a stand on the course (inside the main grandstand) over the next two days which is being manned by Maddie and Peter, and I will be there helping..Please call by if you are racing.

Today I am sponsoring the third race Join Kim Bailey Introductory Hurdle.. a race that all participating trainers will be desperate to win.. As Tom Lacey said it is his seasons aim to receive the trophy from me..

Tom, who used to work for me, would take great pleasure collecting the trainers prize of some fine wine, but more importantly my money…

Sadly Tom does not drink, so the fine wine would be wasted on him!.. Anyway Tom I am also keen to win my money.. and my wine!

We are parading a horse tomorrow as well as having runners there.

John and Penny Perriss were over late morning to see John’s new horse Hollymount Holly. They also saw John’s Bobhopeornohope, Illuminated Beauty, Lots Of Luck, Rocky’s Treasure and Rosmuc Relay and Penny’s Station Master and Wandrin Star.

As you know we have two runners today at Ascot. First Flow and Mr Grey Sky and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.

Why we love our children..

While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds.

She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs.

One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass.

As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth fairy will never believe this!'

PS.. I had a fine day in Essex yesterday.. Thanks to Warwick and Karen..

Sadly, because my relations on my Fathers side are not into racing, we hardly meet up.. yesterday was long planned and great fun... Lunch at Blake Hall with their daughter Rachael and my cousin Virginia Tinney etc..
