Minus 1 and cold start for spring. Loads of rain here yesterday
Ajero loves fast ground and yesterday as expected it was too soft for him.. That run will have put him in good stead for his main target The Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot.. A race he was second in last year.
Ajero started his flat career in April last year after a busy jumps season so he was fit as flea then.. It will probably take another run to have him finely tuned for RA?
It was a first visit to Pontefract for Mat and I am sure he looking forward to his next visit.. when I am not so sure.
He will be heading the other way today when he drives to Ffos Las and into deepest Wales to saddle I Got Stung and hopefully Lady Of The Night if the ground is suitable. For my thoughts please click here.
We have no vet visit today although we had one mover and shaker in the BHA handicap charts.. I Spy A Diva up 5 to 125 for finishing third at Cheltenham....
Carol Bailey and Rosemary Charrington were over to say goodbye to Voyburg..
Voyburg has retired from racing and is now heading to the Salisbury area to be rehomed with Lucy Allen.. Lucy used to work here..Voyburg is one very lucky horse as he has a new home for life.. Again another feather is Mrs B's cap for finding such a wonderful home for this good looking horse.. At his new home he will be partaking in ROR showing and a bit of eventing.
There has been plenty written about the Grand National and I thought Lydia Hyslop did well when she penned this article for the Sporting Life.
Punchestown starts today
My new little book is a mind of information..
Burgundy makes you think of silly things
Bordeaux makes you talk of them and Champagne makes you do them!
I have to add that Good wine is a necessity of life for me
Can't wait to get my taste buds back.. I fear I left them in the GR!! Or the antbiotics?
