Minus 1 and dry when driving in.

Catterick is a long way to go to finish second..

Thumb Stone Blues was second favourite so I suppose it was on the cards.. He ran well but found one too good for him and that was the favourite Delusionofgrandeur who is very much a course specialist as that was his 4 win at Catterick.. I imagine Delusionofgrandeur has been to that racecourse more times than I have..Aptly named perhaps..

David Bass and Tom Bellamy were in this morning for one lot.. racing starts early at this time of year..

We jumped Vindication, Charbel, Champagne To Go, Wandrin Star, Biscuit and Station Master

Stephen and Linda Perry were here for a morning on the gallops..

We have three runners today and one tomorrow. At Huntingdon Silver Kayf runs while at Ascot we run Johnny Ocean and Abbreviate while tomorrow at Exeter we run Braw Angus. Anyway for my thoughts on their respective chances please click here.

Great racing at Ascot and Haydock.. Cue Card a new rider..

Ashes.. Tense.. Australia very much on top.. Cook fails again..Brutal..

Sinking Animals.

A donkey and a chicken are playing in a meadow. The donkey falls into a mud hole and is sinking.

He calls to the chicken to go and get the farmer to help pull him out to safety.

The chicken runs to the farm but the farmer can't be found. So he drives the farmer's Mercedes back to the mud hole and ties some rope around the  bumper.

He then throws the other end of the rope to his friend, the donkey, and drives the car forward saving him from sinking!

A few days later, the chicken and donkey were playing in the meadow again and this time the chicken fell into the mud hole.

The chicken yelled to the donkey to go and get some help from the farmer.

The donkey said, "I think I  can stand over the hole!"

So he stretched over the width of the hole and said, "Grab for my  'thingy' and pull yourself up."

And the chicken did and pulled himself to safety.

The moral of the story is:

If you are hung like a donkey, you don't need a Mercedes to pick up chicks.

On that happy note have a great weekend..

Happy birthday to Peter Kerr.. tomorrow
