Minus 1 and dry when driving in

What a nightmare.. do we declare for Newcastle on Saturday and hope they have rain or do we play safe and not.. Either way the horse(s), if we run, have to leave tomorrow for Saturdays meeting, and the rain that is forecasted is for Saturday morning.. will it actually turn up?.. The down sides of 48 declarations!! And a bloody long way to go if you don’t run?

Anyway that is my problem and judgement call...

First Flow and El Presente had an away day.. El Presente went to jump the Grand National Fences to see how he faired with a view to running in the Beecher Chase next weekend. First Flow has an entry in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown.. if it rains!!

Ed Hawkins was here second lot to see his filly Talk Of The Moon and discuss plans

Third lot Christopher and Candia Compton were here to see their KBRS horse Magical Escape

Really sad to report that my cousin Nicholas Sperling died earlier this week..

Nicholas who had been fighting the dreaded C was mad keen on his racing, so much so that he and Gill moved from the borders to Lambourn. And they had family close to... Nicholas had horses here and with Jamie Snowden.... I last saw Nicholas 3 weeks ago when I was in Lambourn working horses... A really good man.. Lifes a bugger at times like this!

Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you plann'd:

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

On that sad note and looking to brighter times..

Happy birthday to one of our team.. Milly Shaw
