Plus 13 and dry when driving in.
Good news.. a winner last night at Worcester..Commodore Barry held on to win by a head..A birthday winner..
It was certainly wet yesterday .. 23 mm of water landed on Worcester and the ground changed to soft. Not may I say winter soft. Summer soft ground..
Now you must wonder what on earth I am talking about..
If Worcester had not watered the ground would have been good to firm, but having applied loads of water on the course over the last 3 weeks to produce safe ground, yesterdays rain made the watered areas far softer.
Back to Commodore Barry..
David Bass was keen to jump off in front to try and settle him as he pulled too hard at Huntingdon last time when 3rd.... Yes he settled and David is very good from the front.. Finely judged he jumped the last in front and frankly he was never headed .. just!
Well done to CB's owners.. The Commodores..Vince Burmingham, Brian and Linda Cognet, John and Laura Garrett, Caroline Swire, Angeles Kennedy, Chris Trigg, Adrian and Anne Waters..
Our other runner Robin The Raven who went off a shade off odds on in the novice chase ran well and finished 3rd.. beaten 2 lengths..
Robin jumped well, but the rain did make a difference to his performance as he loves fast ground. Annoying not to win, but we walked away happy that he ran well and jumped accordingly..
As you know I am not the biggest fan of Worcester.. Nothing wrong with the course for horses but for owners it is dire.. Richard Sheppard and John Webber who own Robin The Raven took a party and a table in the Severn Restaurant and that was excellent.
Both horses are fine this morning.
Yes there are good and bad points about Worcester and last night the trainers, as well as owners, received a prize.. A hamper of Celtic Marches cider and products..Much appreciated.
We worked Minella Warrior and Sonneopresenting this morning..Others cantered..
We were to have a runner today on the flat at Haydock.. Sunblazer.
Annoyingly the ground has gone against him.. he needs fast ground and the ground has changed to good to soft after rain yesterday. There will be other days for Sunny ..
Annabel England sent this one over..
A young jockey and his stable lass girlfriend make the decision to get married.
Everything is planned and the couple intend to honeymoon in Italy for a week.
The marriage goes without a hitch and the couple set off on their honeymoon.
While checking in the lady behind the desk asks 'We have two suites available for you, would you like the bridal?'
'No thanks says the jockey I'll just hold her ears till she gets the hang of it!
Have a great weekend and see you on Monday.. Don't mention cricket!!
To finish. A big thank you to Nigel Kirby for sharing his photos from Worcester last night so that I can post them on the blog.. some photograpers won't.. To see Nigel's photos please click here
