Plus 6 and dry when driving in.
I was very proud of Station Master yesterday.
I know he did not win, and yes he finished second, but what a great run. He jumped superbly and tried his heart out and he gave the odds on favourite Steely Addition a proper run for his money. If only..
We were 15lbs wrong at the weights and were beaten just over a length.
We would not normally run in a race like that, but you should never be frightened of one horse, even if it looks wrong. There are few enough 3 mile novice chases around, and there is only one (bar Aintree) before the end of the season, so we had to go..
The handicapper said at the beginning of season that he would not penalise horse for running ‘wrong at the weights’ in novice chases.. I hope he is a man of his word…
After racing I called in on Martin Jones on the way home to see the youngsters he is riding away..
Last night Clare and I joined her parents for supper at The Frogmill.. It was good, and busy.
Wednesday morning and no rain forecasted. I spoke to Simon Claisse yesterday and he is watering like fury at Cheltenham as he is not expecting any rain before his April meeting.
David Bass in and we worked a few . Click here to watch then on the gallops: First Lot, Second Lot
We also jumped..Miss Gemstone and Early Learner. Click here to see them school.
Michael and Mary Dulverton were here third lot to see their horses Newtide, Happygolucky and Talk Of Fame.
Fourth lot David and Julie Martin were here to see their horses Charbel, Minella Warrior and Gallows Point.. and discuss plans for all.
The flat race season starts this weekend and however much the Racing Post tries to drum up support for the Doncaster meeting it fails.. Why.. The Grand National Meeting starts next Thursday and I am afraid all eyes are on that meeting.. then Flat racing will take over.
I have to say that our MP's are a disgrace..
A Fundamental Truth about our MPs
THE HAIRCUT !!
"Blessed are those that can give without remembering, and take without forgetting."
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you ' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then an MP came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The MP was very happy and left the shop
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen MPs lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
As Margaret Thatcher said: "Both politicians and nappies need to be changed often and for the same reason!"
To finish.. Happy birthday Mikey Hamill.....
