It was plus 6 and raining first thing this morning.. Excellent, rain needed… Seems odd when we spent the whole winter discussing the huge amount falling on us..
Henry Kimbell phoned last night.. It was delight to hear his voice..
Henry, who runs the Racing For Maggies Charity, (Another Venture) and I last spoke nearly 4 weeks ago and since then he has been off line, his life has been turned upside down or insde out, which ever.
Henry is now out of Addenbrooke's Hospital after spending well over 2 weeks there of which nearly half was in ICU..
Welcome back Henry.. As I say it was a delight to talk last night..Henry has had a very tough time, but as he rightly said, it was far worse for his family.. especially wife Bella.... Good news Henry is making a full recovery..
Henry is going to shortly take up the mantle of the Kim Bailey Racing Community spirit....
Yesterday was a first for me when I gave a talk to the RAU on Microsoft Team.
Sarah Daly hosted the meeting and she had me on the internet talking for about an hour on my racing experiences, past, present and its future to the college students .. not sure how many listened judging by Archie’s morning lessons on the same platform.
Microsoft Team does though open up many future opportunities of talking to owners and partnerships while we are still on lockdown. As does Zoom..
Racing again shot itself in the foot over the weekend..
It does go to show that emails can be leaked.. leaked emails always cause far more problems..
Whoever leaked them must have had their reasons, but it did not look good of our sport.. All rather sad.
Racing so needs a united front to put our case across and now even more so, especially when so many believe, wrongly, that racing is one of the reasons why the dreaded Coronavirus has spread..
Julie Martin who is Patron of The Racehorse Santuary has taken up the challenge of removing at least 26 varieties of weeds from her garden over the next 26 days..
The 2.6 challenge Digging for Victory.. Raising much needed cash or The Racehorse Sanctuary.. Here is Julie's Just giving site
Rumours, spread by Dan Hall, that David Martin is going to spend the same 26 days mowing for the charity, are as yet unconfirmed..
'Last nights supper was Scotch Eggs.. Hestor Blumenthals recipe not a winner with Mrs B..
Anyway the use of extra eggs meant that there were none left for our Do It For Dan Egg challenge.. as set by Oliver Sherwood, Richie Forristal, Clarissa Daly and Annabel England..Today now?
FOR THE SCRABBLE-MINDED
One wonders what mischievous hand was at work as the English language developed.
