28th December 2018

Plus 7 and dry when driving in.

December 27 is not a day to be on the roads, and by that I mean driving.

The journey time to and from Kempton was horrid.. life is all about timing and yesterday I got it wrong in so many ways. More on that later..

Sainte Ladylime was not good. She found the Kempton ground too fast and she was never happy on it.. while on the other hand Wandrin Star ran an absolute corker..

Up 12lbs for winning a moderate race at Bangor last time; that looked harsh on the face of what he beat that day as the form has not been working out… Anyway the handicapper is not often wrong, as we all know..

Mikey Hamill really does get on very well with this big horse and WS just jumped for fun for him.. they looked so much a likely winner turning into the home straight with three to jump, but sadly it was not to be and we had to settle for a good third place behind yet another Nicholls/Cobden winner..

It was a cracking run and one that showed WS will be winning again and who knows in time he could end up going much further and in better company.. yes he is very much on the upgrade..

I mentioned earlier that timing in life was important.

Well I started my day at Kempton being interviewed by Nick Townsend for something that might appear in Saturday's The Racing Paper.

Nick was kind as he misread my age by several years and also did the same on my training career.. Perhaps TRP's archives don’t go back that far..

Anyway in a way that was a compliment… moments later I headed to the weighing room to talk to Mikey Hamill, when some ‘young chap’ came up and asked me for my autograph.. flattered, but only for a second as he thought I was Derek Thompson… Sorry…..that’s a bit like mistaking Nico for Bassy..

Talking Nico.. Altior.. 16 on the trot.. what a superstar.

Friday morning..

Christopher Hill was here second lot to see his KBRP horse Arthurs Sixpence and Vinndication.

Third lot Paul and Suzanne Higgs were here to see their KBRP horse Peeping Tom.

We have two runners today at Leicester..Early Learner and Thibault and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.

Harry prays to God: Dear Lord, please make me win the lottery.

The next day Harry begs the Lord again: Please make it so I win the lottery, Lord!

The next day, Harry again prays: Please, please, dear Lord, make me win the lottery!

Suddenly he hears a voice from above: Harry, would you kindly go and buy a lottery ticket.
