Minus 3 and dry when driving in.

Mat and I were not at our best yesterday

I failed to make Chepstow yesterday so sent son Harry to replace me. Harry saddled Harry Topper.

HT ran well  for a long way. The ground was certainly not soft enough for him and that was the biggest field he has ever run in.

HT's jumping was better and on the face of it it was not too bad a start even though he pulled up 2 from home. I had forgotten how slow HT is… He is tough, honest and just wants it almost unraceable to bring out the best of him or slow the others down..
Anyway he looks like he enjoyed his day out and seems fine this morning..

Fine is not a great word and fine is not how you would describe Mat. My assistant does not get colds (that's what he says), well he has made up for it now.. all those bug free years rolled into one.. Some of my team are coming down with it now..

David Bass in this morning as was Graham Potts for another morning of looking at horses..

Doug and Sylvia Wilks were here third lot to see their two KBRP horses Ascotdeux Nellerie and Silver Kayf, Richard and Sheila Mordan were here to see their KBRP horse Blazon while Iain and Angela Bell were here to see their KBRP horses Knockanrawley and Our Belle Amie.

Yesterday was not a day to be on the roads. The M5 was closed near Bristol because of ice which made getting to Chepstow hard for some, while Clare and Archie took 9 hours to drive to Kelso to stay with Clare's parents.

Channel 4 went out with flying colours yesterday. Not going racing meant that I was able to watch the whole programme and they left us some great memories. We will look back on their 32 years thanking them for their good work and their great promotion of our sport. So is goodbye Channel 4 and hello ITV on January 1st..

We have no runners today. Something to make you laugh..

Old age is coming at a really bad time.   When I was a child I thought "NapTime" was a punishment. Now, as a grownup, it feels like a small vacation.

The biggest lie I tell myself is: “I don’t need to write that down, I'll remember it."

I don’t have grey hair ; I have "wisdom highlights." I'm just very wise.

Teach your daughter how to shoot, because a restraining order is just a piece of paper.

If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would've put them on my knees.
