30th March 2018

Plus 1 and very foggy when driving in.

A rather apt forecast considering the way my horses ran yesterday.  Foggy means that you cant see that far in front of you when driving and frankly I have yet to see a reason why they ran like they did yesterday..

Graham Potts our vet was in this morning to try and help see through the fog.

It was certainly not a good day, but travelling to and from Wetherby racecourse with Johnny and Liz Wills I can only say I am lucky as my three horses will at least have another chance to run again; sadly their home bred horse Isle Of Ewe fell fatally at the last when she had the race well and truly at her mercy.

Racing is tough at times and it is awful to see such horrid things happening.. Johnny and Liz were understandably distraught, but also being farmers understand that old adage when you have live stock you also have dead stock..

A tough and very sad day not only for Isle Of Ewe's owner breeders, trainer Tom Lacey, but also for the staff and girls who have looked after the mare while in training and while back on the Wills’s farm..

Today is Good Friday...

In racing Good Friday is so synonymous with the Lambourn Open Day, but sadly this year due to the awful weather we have been having the main event has been cancelled..

All their car parks are either flooded or would be saturated making car movement virtually impossible. Very sad for them as it is a huge fund raising day out and one that is hugely popular with the general public..

Yes all the yards, bar Nicky Henderson's are now closed for the day.. Seven Barrows is out of the town and has better car parking facilities.. He will be very busy showing off his equine stars..

If you live up in the North then at least you can pop along to Middleham as their Open day goes ahead.

No runners from here today, although young Archie and his pony head to Cheltenham Racecourse for the big pony race meeting of the year. Kim Bailey Racing sponsors the first race..which has divided..

We jumped Cascaye, Biscuit and Involve over hurdles..

Yet another cricketing video worth watching..
