Plus 14 and dull when driving in. Low cloud cover and a feeling that rain is around.

Well that’s another bank holiday done.. Cheese rolling locally and racing all over the country. Neither did we partake in. Cricket yes, but not at a test level.

The racing world is gearing up for this weekends Epsom Derby and the thought of another Frankie victory is on the cards although 7 of the 14 possible runners come from Aiden O’Brien’s Ballydoyle Stables in Ireland, including the odds on favourite Saxon Warrior.

Vet in this morning for his weekly Tuesday visit.. Not much to look at..

This weeks movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts were.. By The Boardwalk down 1 to 111, Chateau Robin down 1 to 104, Dandy Dan up 1 to 127, Doctor Haze down 8 over fences to 104 and down 4 over hurdles to 109, Net Work Rouge down 5 to 125, Robin The Raven down 3 to 134, Rocky's Treasure down 1 to 131 while Commodore Barry enters at 120.

The great Martin Pipe and Marek Kwiatkowski both have birthdays today.. Martin still lives in Somerset,while Marek now lives in Australia. Martin, master trainer. Marek, my first syndicate manager...

Is this for them?

If my body was a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model.

I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull...

But that's not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it.

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter, either My Radiator Leaks or My Exhaust Backfires!
