Bank Holidays and traffic.. Cartmel, Simply Red and the M6.

It was very touch and go as to whether Magic Money would make her appointment to race in the last at Cartmel on Saturday..

Thankfully it was the last otherwise we would not have made it. Over 7 hours to Cartmel .. M6 gridlocked and then the only road to Cartmel is a B one and that was busy enough.

Leigh Polard my travelling head girl persevered and made it with an hour to spare.

Normally we like to get the horses there at least 2 and ½ hours before they race so that the horses can have time to unwind and relax.

After all the drama Magic Money ran well and looked like winning jumping the last but the 3 furlong run in did her in and she finished 3^rd beaten 2 lengths.

A good run from this tough mare who will be kept going over the summer months although back in her owner/breeders colours of David Jenks.. Henry Kimbell’s GSTTKPA has now finished. Over 35K raised for the charity?

Yesterday at Uttoxeter was frustrating as Such A Legend produced a massive run and looked like he was going to win the big race but was collared on the line . Second.. Second also was Jimmy The Jetplane.. he ran well and jumped well and Rhianna ran better to finish 4^th.. A good weekend which failed to produce a winner but all horses ran well and all seem fine after.

I did not go racing yesterday as Archie was playing in a cricket match at Dumbleton.. It was the first time this year that I was able to watch him..I am sure you will pleased to know he has all his fathers ability!!

Last night I enjoyed a summers evening walking around fields looking at all the horses relaxing (photos later)

No Jockeys in this morning and we have no runners today.

The mother of a 17-year-old girl was concerned that her daughter was having sex.

Worried the girl might become pregnant and adversely impact the family's status, she consulted the family doctor.

The doctor told her that teenagers today were very willful and any attempt to stop the girl would probably result in rebellion.

He then told her to arrange for her daughter to be put on birth control and until then, talk to her and give her a box of condoms.

Later that evening, as her daughter was preparing for a date, the mother told her about the situation and handed her a box of condoms.

The girl burst out laughing and reached over to hug her mother, saying, 'Oh mum! You don't have to worry about that! I'm dating Susan!
