Plus 11 and dry when driving in. We had a good bit of rain overnight.
I was not at the Tattersalls Derby Sales yesterday but it did not take long to realise that the prices were as high if not higher than they were on the first day. Records again broken.. Staggering.
Twitter was buzzing with the news of record prices and Annie Chaudry, who works here, is currently on holiday at the sales has been tweeting and showing pictures all day..
Top price yesterday was a Euros 145,00.00 for a Milan gelding while Martaline was another sire who was making waves with his offspring.. Fame And Glory who died earlier this year is a huge loss as a sire as his first crop of 3 year old have been making fortunes.. another made Euros 125.000,00 yesterday… I hope they all turn out to be stars including the stunning grey I bought on Tuesday.
Work started yesterday on our new 2 furlong round sand gallop. The digger arrived yesterday morning and the gallop was being marked out; digging starts this morning
Mr Marmite.. Matt Chapman is going to say nothing all day.. How hard is that going to be for him. I am a big fan of Matt's and he has worked his socks off to get where he is in racing and I believe he is very good for the sport.. Anyway today is he staying voiceless for charity..Voice Of Racing is raising money for Sir Peter O’Sullevan and the UK and Irish Injured Jockeys fund.. Talking charity..We are supporting a Racing to Cricket day..‘Racing to Cricket’ is a 8 a side knock out cricket competition between 6 racing sides to win the Injured Jockeys Fund Cricket Trophy.
The game is on Sunday 3rd September 2017 First match 9.30am - Final at 5.30pm and will be played at the famous Wormsley ground on the Getty Estate designed by John Paul Getty III who was a huge cricket fan... More info on the right..
