Plus 8 and dry when driving in.

A good crowd for a Monday at Exeter races and they were rewarded with some good racing.

Salt Rock who was having his first run over hurdles after a wind op ran well enough to finish 3rd.. we can build on that.. It looked a respectable race on paper and the first two looked well above average.

I left the racecourse soon after his race so that I was in time to watch Zmiinyi's race at John and Mary Wood’s house just outside Taunton..

Ziinyni finished 4th..and one more run and he will qualify for a handicap mark.

So good to see John and Mary.. I have known both for years which is not surprising when you know that John is 94.. Bright as a button, although slightly hard of hearing which made talking over Zmiinyi's race from Leicester almost impossible! Mrs B has that to look forward to!!

John was my English point to point spotter.. he visited a 121 different point to point racecourses and knew all the horses and runners form backwards.. He was very helpful when I first started training...

Tuesday morning and Mat heads to Lingfield, where we have just the one runner. Lady Of The Night heads there and for my thoughts please click here.

We have our usual Tuesday vet visit and this weeks movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts were..General Hubble up 4 to 84, Lady Gwen up 5 to 102 and El Rio enters at 124..

A devout old shepherd lost his favorite Bible while he was out looking for a wayward lamb.

The shepherd couldn’t believe his eyes. He took the precious book out of the sheep’s mouth, raised his eyes heavenward and exclaimed, “It’s a miracle!”

“Not really,” said the sheep. “Your name is written inside the cover.”
