Plus 16 and drizzling when driving in.

Driving is what I did a great deal of yesterday. Bangor is not the best racecourse to get to at the moment, especially if you use the M5/M6 corridor.

I ended going across country, but it still took an hour longer than usual.

Lets start again. Bangor. What a great racecourse and even more so when I have been spent most of my summer racing at Worcester.

You arrive and there is a smile on the face of the lady on the gate.. Can I help? Of course .. Would you like lunch? Of course.

Arriving in the owners and trainers you are spoilt for choice….Great food and half a bottle of white or red wine per person.. Owners love that. They feel welcome and wanted.

The owners of Net Work Rouge Johnny and Liz Wills were thrilled with their horse's run last night as second was good second, especially after what he had been showing on his last two runs..

Last time NWR almost refused to race at Worcester but last night he was happy and enjoyed himself, jumping well; annoyingly he was finally out paced by a well handicapped horse close home.

Perhaps it was the welcome they all received at Bangor.. in fact NWR’s owners were blown away by the new owners facility at Bangor..

Bangor even went one step further than most racecourses when they allowed Charbel to gallop after racing.

Heading home I was overtaken by David Bass so I decided I would follow him .. The M6/M5 corridor was closed.

Following diversion signs for miles, and miles out of our way, I was sure David knew a short cut, as most jockeys do.. Mistake.. he was lost and finally I left him as he headed back up the M5 going North again while I took the South entrance.. I hope he made it home ??

Nick and Ben Sutton were in to ride out one lot, as was Annie Chaudry...

No vet visit today as he is doing something really daft at his age..

I went over mid morning to Martin Jones to see Mr Macho and Agent Memphis, who are doing pre training with him, and a youngster just over from Ireland by Kalanisi who he is breaking in.

Cricket.. Test match.. not looking good for England.

One buzz word in today's business world is MARKETING.

However, people often ask for a simple explanation of "Marketing." Well, here it is:

You see a handsome guy at a party. You go up to him and get his telephone number. The next day you call and say, "Hi, I'm fantastic in bed."

That's Telemarketing.

You see a guy at a party; you straighten your dress. You walk up to him and pour him a drink. You say, "May I?" and reach up to straighten his tie, brushing your breast lightly against his arm, and then say, "By the way, I'm fantastic in bed."

That's Public Relations.
