NOVEMBER 2016 NEWSLETTER
Dear All
October was a quiet month for us.
On the winners front. Charbel won well at Uttoxeter; it was perhaps the best Novice Chase run so far this season (that could change at Cheltenham this weekend) with three very good progressing horses all having their first run over fences. Charbel won by half a length setting thoughts of a Grade one race for him at Sandown in early December.
Jimmy The Jetplane and By The Boardwalk were both given great rides to win their respective races.
At long last we have had some rain this week and that has opened up all sorts of possibilities for runners over the next few weeks and November looks like being busy from now on which is good news. Loads to look forward to.
We have just a few shares left in our Maggies Charity partnership, we will shortly be running both horses. You can read all about Racing For Maggies on the right; please remember it would make a fabulous early Christmas present.
Have a great month and see you in December with some good old Christmas cheer.. we probably need some at the moment.. that's for my USA friends who receive this newsletter.
OCTOBER UPDATE
We had three winners in October with By the Boardwalk, Charbel and Jimmy the Jetplane.
At Market Rasen BTBW finally had things go his way and with Tom Bellamy, his regular rider, getting a well timed run up the home straight BTBW went on to be a worthy winner.
Owner John Perriss and my Assistant Mat Nichols had a great day and this made the journey home a very happy one.
Market Rasen, even if Chairman Bud Booth was away, was as always, very welcoming .
At last Jimmy The Jetplane has won a race over fences.
Sedgefield is not exactly next door but the race was right and the prize money was good for a small track (£12000 added).
This was Jimmy The Jetplane’s fifth run over fences this summer; he has finished second in the first 4.. So to win yesterday was good news for The Cool Silk Partnership (Barbara Wilkinson, Peter and Karin Swann), me and of course David Bass who like us all was becoming rather frustrated with this talented horse.
Jimmy The Jetplane will be far better right handed and coming off the pace..It is not ideal racing in front but as he is such a good jumper he usually lands there after the first fence.
Charbel was magical at Uttoxeter. What a way to win a beginners chase?
Charbel was taking on some very good horses and although he was not out of his class we did think and we did hope he would win. He jumped for fun and just loved his race. Three top novices jumping the last together and we prevailed.
It was probably the highest quality field every to run in a novice chase at Uttoxeter and it turned out to be as good a race as they hoped..
David Bass was confident and gave Charbel a superb ride. Great result for Julie and David Martin .. A very happy Julie was on hand to watch.
