Plus 12 and dry when driving in.

Worcester held its last meeting of the year yesterday and we left the racecourse semi happy with the day.

Gold Man and Tom Bellamy parted company at the second when Tom fell off. Taras Rainbow finished a distant 4th and hopefully the handicapper will now give her a mark next Tuesday. The Scarlett Woman broke a blood vessel which was not good news; finally Viaduct Jack finished 3rd which for his first run was encouraging. It certainly was a fillip for his part owner Glen Swire who is currently in hospital.

There we many comments about the fact that I was having lunch with John and Penny Perriss at Worcester.. This one came from Roger Hart.. ‘I hear Worcester racecourse have booked you on the riverboat cruise picnic racing package. Just not sure if they have included the boat though!!’

Well we survived and I am still here having had a peaceful night.. I have had far worse, and frankly we were pleasantly surprised, although not sure about paying extra for a small plate of cheese when eating their ste menu 3 course lunch.. No, you are right, I must stop knocking Worcester.. I might have if it had not taken well over an hour to get off the racecourse after the last.. My KBRP owners of Taras Rainbow enjoyed their day out, as did Peter Kerr.

Silver Eagle and Same Ole Trix popped over to Lambourn this morning for a gallop and a change of scenery.

Paul and Clare Rooney’s horses Cracked Rear View, Red Spinner, Sainte Ladylime and The Last Samuri arrived here last night having been in isolation for the last 10 days.

We have no visitors today; to see yesterdays work morning video click here.. Sorry, but our internet kept dropping yesterday and as it is so slow down loading our video.. takes the best part of two hours normally... so yesterday it was a disaster.

We have three runners at Ludlow today.

Fizzy Dancer takes to hurdles for the first time, as does Ludlow bumper winner Ascotdeux Nellerie; in the jolly last our flat horse Sunblazer returns to hurdling. David Bass rides all three and for my thoughts on their chances please click here..

Remember Able Deputy? Well he returns to action this weekend in America..Bizarrely Able Deputy, if he had not been sold to the USA to continue his jump career, would have been the 10th best novice chaser in the UK last season.. not bad for a summer jumper..

When Insults Had Class.. These two glorious insults are from an era " before" the English language got boiled down to 4-letter words.

A member of Parliament to Disraeli.. (yes I listen to PMQ yesterday on the way to Worcester)

"Sir, you will either die on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease."

"That depends, Sir,"said Disraeli,"whether I embrace your policies or your mistress."

Here's another..

"I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play; bring a friend, if you have one." -George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill

"Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second... if there is one." -Winston Churchill, in response

To finish.. for those embarrassing moments in life... Click here
